Doris Goldstein is a lawyer whose solo practice provides individual
attention to the client. The practice primarily represents developers
of traditional neighborhood developments and other new urbanist
communities, including homeowner association documentation, architectural
standards, commercial property sales and leasing and the formation
of condominiums and air-space townhouses in mixed-use buildings.
Since
1986, Ms. Goldstein has represented Seaside, a community designed
by DPZ Architects which is recognized for its innovative land use
planning and architectural codes. She has been closely involved
with Seasides growth, including the development of its town
center. In addition to her ongoing representation of Seaside, Ms.
Goldstein currently represents more than a dozen developers of new
urbanist communities in Florida and, in cooperation with local counsel,
in other states, including Alabama, Texas, Colorado, North Carolina
and South Carolina.
Ms.
Goldstein provides legal planning and document preparation through
on-site visits and consultation, in cooperation with local counsel.
When assisting in the planning of a new community, Ms. Goldstein’s
goal is to create effective, efficient legal structures that can
respond to the changing needs of the community over time. The documents
establish architectural control and address the separate needs of
the town center and the primarily residential portions of the community.
All documents are intended to be readable and user-friendly.
As a cost-effective alternative for developers of new urbanist communities
and their attorneys, Ms. Goldstein has recently formulated a set
of model documents which can be adapted for use by most such communities.
The documents, which are licensed to the developer's attorney, include
explanatory materials and are available in electronic form. Local
counsel can then complete the documents in consultation with Ms.
Goldstein.
