Doris
Sussman Goldstein is a lawyer primarily representing developers
of new urban communities, beginning in 1986 with Seaside.
Ms.
Goldstein is the co-author, with Dan Slone, of a book, A Legal
Guide to Urban and Sustainable Development for Planners, Developers
and Architects.
She
has lectured at seminars presented by the American Bar Association,
Urban Land Institute, the Congress for the New Urbanism, the
Seaside Institute, Florida Bar Continuing Legal Education, and
the University of Miami School of Law Continuing Legal Education.
Her article on New Urbanism: Planning and Structure of the Traditional
Neighborhood Development, was published in the ABA's Probate &
Property magazine and won that magazine's 2003 Excellence in Writing
Award for best cutting edge article. She has also written articles
for New Urban News and New Urban Living.
As
a volunteer, Ms. Goldstein participated in the Technical Review
Panel for the North St. Lucie County Master Plan and assisted in
the drafting of a Traditional Neighborhood Development ordinance
for her own community of Jacksonville, Florida. She is a member
of the Congress for the New Urbanism, the Florida Advisory Council
of the Trust for Public Land, and the Florida Bar's Committee on
Condominiums and Planned Developments.
Ms.
Goldstein graduated with high honors from the University of Florida,
College of Journalism and Communication, in 1975 and cum laude from
Harvard Law School in 1982. She has been a member of the Florida
Bar since 1982 and is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
